In Part 3 of “The Laser’s Edge”, Richard Mann discusses how the use of laser sights in a self-defense situation can increase total threat visibility and to help fight off “tunnel vision”. In this segment, Mann shows how lasers can increase peripheral vision during a crisis, and how they can allow you to focus on your threat – not on your sights.
“If I’m a bad guy, you better be looking at me…every bit of me,” explains Mann. “Why? I might have a gun…and if I do have a gun, I may decide to pull it, and if I do, it’s gonna be quick. You need to see that movement when it starts – not when it’s over. The true stopping power of a handgun are not the the bullets that come out of the barrel – it’s the pshychological effect it has when it’s pointed at someone.”
