Gunnar Lindstrom to Meet Fans at BikeBandit.com AMA Vintage Motorcycle Days

The American Motorcyclist Association and Husqvarna Motorcycles are proud to welcome AMA Motorcycle Hall of Famer Gunnar Lindstrom to the 2013 BikeBandit.com AMA Vintage Motorcycle Days, featuring the riders and champions of Husqvarna, at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course in Lexington, Ohio, July 19-21. Lindstrom will be on hand to meet fans and sign autographs.

Motocross riders owe a lot to Gunnar Lindstrom, a man who helped introduce the sport of motocross racing to the United States by way of the Husqvarna brand. The Swedish-born racer helped develop bikes as a test rider and engineer for the Husqvarna factory. He was among the first European stars to venture to the United States to compete in the then-new sport of motocross when he contested the Trans-AMA and Inter-AMA series.

At the upcoming BikeBandit.com AMA Vintage Motorcycle Days, Lindstrom will meet fans and sign autographs along with fellow Hall of Famer and 2013 AMA Vintage Motorcycle Days Grand Marshal Dick Burleson at the annual celebration of vintage motorcycling.

“When European scrambles racing was taking hold in America as motocross, European riders were the absolute kings,” said Grant Parsons, the AMA’s director of communications and marketing. “Seeing international riders like Gunnar in magazines and in person really elevated the sport here, and we’re very pleased that Gunnar will be part of BikeBandit.com AMA Vintage Motorcycle Days.”

Lindstrom said that it’s a treat to participate.

“I am looking forward to reconnecting with friends and Husky fans during AMA Vintage Motorcycle Days,” Lindstrom said. “And like so many of them, I’m anxious to learn what exciting things are ahead for Husqvarna under new ownership.”

BikeBandit.com AMA Vintage Motorcycle Days, featuring the riders and champions of Husqvarna, is the country’s premier celebration of vintage motorcycles and motorcycling heritage. Burleson, this year’s grand marshal, won eight consecutive AMA Grand National Enduro Championships from 1974 through 1981 during his remarkable career with Husqvarna, earning him the nickname “King Richard.”
