Gold Tip’s Joseph Goza Wins Final Leg of IBO Triple Crown

Gold Tip’s own Joseph Goza took home his second IBO victory of the season at the Third Leg of the IBO Triple Crown held July 12-14, in Marengo, OH.  Goza, who hails from Henagar, AL, won the Men’s Pro Division with a final score of 413 with 17 X’s.  Goza was shooting Gold Tip Ultralight Pro X-cutters and using a Bee Stinger stabilizer system.   Fellow Gold Tip shooters, Levi Morgan and Chance Beaubouef placed in the top three in the Men’s Pro Division.  The top three finish for Morgan made him a lock for the IBO National Championship title.

“I had a pretty good weekend.  I started off a little slow but as the tournament progressed, my confidence in my yardage judging and shooting began to grow. My Gold Tip arrows flew straight and true,” said Goza. “My pretty good weekend turned out to be a great weekend! I was happy to have the win, especially on such a challenging course.”

The Pro Division of each IBO sanctioned 3-D event features a total of 20 unmarked targets shot on Friday and 20 unmarked targets shot on Saturday, a change from previous years’ configuration of 30 targets on day one and 10 targets on day two.  Contestants shoot each target twice per day, scored as 5 (non-vital body), 8, 10, and 11-point rings per target, thus a perfect possible score of 440. Target distances varied in range out to a maximum of approximately 50 yards. No range finding equipment is allowed at the IBO unmarked event, putting additional pressure on shooters to accurately judge distances.

Gold Tip Pro Staff members, Allen Conners and Michael Tenley also took home victories at the Marengo event.  Conners, who has been lighting up the tournament circuit in the Men’s Pro Senior Division for most of the 2013 season, took home the win with a final score of 400 with 15 X’s, shooting Gold Tip Ultralight Series 22 arrows.  In the Crossbow Division, Gold Tip’s Michael Tenley took home top honors with a final score of 397 with 15 X’s.  Tenley was shooting Gold Tip’s Laser 3 Pro Series crossbow bolts.   With their individual wins at the Marengo event, both Conners and Tenley clinched the IBO National Championship for their respective divisions.

“Our Gold Tip Pro Staff continues to impress as they have all season; this was pure domination,” said Tim Gillingham, Pro Staff Director for Gold Tip Arrows. “Gold Tip arrows and Bee Stinger stabilizer systems didn’t just win the day, they’re winning the year!”
