Game, Fish and Parks’ The Outdoor Campus-West invites women in the area to attend their special Women’s Try-It Day on Saturday August 24, from 10 am until 4 pm. The event includes hands-on educational activities designed specifically with the female audience in mind. Activities include fly-fishing, kayaking, archery, handgun safety and pellet gun shooting, rock climbing and more.

“We’re seeing a lot of women who are interested in spending more time outdoors, either on their own or with members of their family. ” Laurie Root, Community Program Naturalist for The Outdoor Campus-West, said.

Women are one of the fastest-growing segments of the outdoor recreation population. According to Root, “Outdoor sports aren’t just for the boys anymore.”

The event is open to the public at no charge. Participants can stop by any time between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. Pre-registration is not required.

The Outdoor Campus-West is located at 4130 Adventure Trail and is open to the public seven days a week with no admission fee.
