Texas-based target manufacturer stepping up marketing efforts
Hips Targets, based in San Antonio, Texas, has contracted Bast-Durbin Advertising (BDA) as their agency of record. BDA will provide Hips Targets with media buying, public relations, and creative design services.
While Hips Targets has been around for over 35 years, making them one of the oldest archery target manufacturers in the world, they have relied predominantly on word of mouth and the quality of their products, to build their brand. Starting late-fall and running through the archery season of 2014, Hips plans to take their marketing to the next level.
Darrin Brown, owner of Hips Targets, said that he did plenty of research on other ad agencies but ultimately settled on Bast-Durbin because of their reputation in the industry as a “no fluff” group.
“Bast-Durbin was recommended to me by some knowledgeable people I know in the industry,” Brown said. “And once I talked with the guys and saw some of the ads they created, I made my decision. I don’t want a ‘fluff’ agency, I wanted one that helps me sell product.”
Bast and Durbin are looking forward to building the Hips brand, and due to the nature of their new X2 targets, and some exciting new offerings down the road, they are eager to get started.
“Most target manufacturers in the archery industry more or less use the same materials to build their targets,” Dan Durbin said, co-owner of Bast- Durbin Advertising. “But the WAY these targets are built makes a big difference. Hips builds a better target and we plan to let the public know about it.”
