This Week on Gun Guy Radio: Collegiate Shooting Sports

This week on Gun Guy Radio Chad Danielson of the University of Wisconsin – Superior discusses all aspects of collegiate shooting.  Among a host of other responsibilities, Chad is currently the university’s Shooting Sports Coordinator and Range Director and the UWS Rifle Coach and the Shooting Sports Club advisor.  There are approximately 300 shooting programs throughout NCAA colleges and universities.  A collegiate shooting sports program has at least an educational program where shooting classes are offered for credit, shooting as an intercollegiate club sport, or a NCAA varsity sport.

The shooting competitions are in rifle, pistol and shotgun disciplines.  As a precision small-bore rifle and air rifle coach and competitor, Chad’s expertise includes the types and brands of popular precision rifles, ammunition considerations, and setting up the guns for specific competitors.

In the Product Spotlight, Jake and Paul Levy discuss the revolver speedloaders manufactured by 5 Star Firearms and sold by Brownell’s. These billet aluminum speedloaders are made to fit both typical revolvers like a .38 special J-frame and the more unusual calibers such as the .500 S&W and even the Taurus Judge .410.

Finally, the newest element of the Firearms Radio Network, the Firearms Insider Community, is continuing to take shape.  The website, which will include gun and gear reviews, a blog, and the opportunity for user reviews, will go live on October 15, 2013.  In addition, as the community develops, the Firearms Insider will have both a full podcast and mini-podcasts often including personalities from across the Firearms Radio Network.
