With the 2013 AMA National Speedway Championship at Fast Fridays on September 27 just one week away Billy Janniro looks hard to stop. Janniro currently leads all riders after round one in the championship series which was held on June 29 in Ventura. Janniro capped his regular Fast Fridays Motorcycle season with a win in the Division I scratch main event Friday night. The three time past national champ is looking forward round two September 22 in Victorville and the final round in the championship series at Fast Fridays. “I have been racing one bike all season long here and it’s pretty worn out,” Janniro said. “I’ve got my LA bike and she’s pretty fresh and we’ll be bringing it up for the final, we’re ready to go.”

After round one in the championship series Janniro leads last year’s AMA National Speedway champion, and world champion rider Billy Hamill by three points. Right behind Hamill is Gino Manzares four points behind Janniro. But with round two Sunday anything can happen and it’s anyone’s guess who will bring the most points into the standings when 16 of the best speedway riders in the country roll into Fast Fridays next week for the grand final round.

Janniro faced Bryan Yarrow, Daniel Faria and Tyler Warren in the scratch main event Friday night at the Gold Country Fairgrounds. From the start it was a two man race between Yarrow and Janniro. Janniro worked the outside of the track and Yarrow, first to the inside on turn one holding tight on the inside. Both riders rode neck and neck for four laps but from the outside in a late surge Janniro caught Yarrow at the tape by inches to win an exciting race. Warren was third and Faria fourth.

In the Division I handicap main event it was Yarrow that held out for the win over Janniro. Yarrow is another talented rider that can have a great night and will be someone to watch in the two final national championship rounds. Janniro finished second, and Thomas Reich was third.

In the Division II main event it was Michael Achilles who looks like he has but it all together as the season closes and could see some Division I time next year. Achilles notched his second main event win in three weeks. “The week before the track championship I won the main, and then this week,” Achilles said. “It’s kind of a nice feeling.” Achilles topped Shane Shuz who was second and Nick Dion who was third.  Laurence McNutt also closed out his 2013 Fast Friday’s season with a Division III main event win. McNutt came out on top of Dorian Jewett who finished second and Harland Bast who was third.

The Extreme Sidecars teams made their sixth and final trip to Fast Fridays to race in an action packed racing program Friday night. Like always the teams of riders climbed aboard their 1100cc chariots and put on a thrilling show. Joe Jones and Jonny Glover won the main event, Jeff Rowe and Jonny Bach were second and Dual Anderson and Chuck Heider were third.
Luke Becker continued to dominate the Youth 250cc division picking a win in the main event. Chase Guerrero finished second and William Fike was third. For the first time this year Gregory Moore won the Youth 150cc main event. After many second and third place finishes Moore held on to take the checkered flag. He finished ahead of Dylan Wagner and Landon Norton.
