The Safariland Group (the “Company”), a leading provider of safety and survivability products for law enforcement, military, tactical, professional and outdoor markets has acquired the explosive ordnance disposal (“EOD”) and crew survivability (“CS) businesses (the “Businesses”) of Allen-Vanguard Corporation, the leader in customized solutions for defeating terrorist and extremist threats. The Businesses acquired include the Med-Eng brand of EOD bomb suits and remotely operated vehicles and the crew survivability products include customized blast attenuation seats and thermal management systems. The Businesses are located in Ottawa and Pembroke, Canada and Ogdensburg, New York.

Med-Eng is the leading global brand of explosive ordnance disposal equipment for more than 30 years, and is the world market leader for suits and helmets for EOD, bomb disposal and tactical teams. In addition to its bomb disposal equipment, its product line includes a vast array of products for unexploded ordnance, mine clearance and humanitarian demining operations. The line of crew survivability blast attenuation seats protects military vehicle drivers, commanders and troops by isolating them from the effects of improvised explosive devices, mines and sudden impact. Thermal management products, which comprise a variety of military grade personnel and heating and cooling systems for electronics, are designed for the harsh operating requirements of today’s combat environments.

“We have acquired a platform of highly technical businesses that fit precisely within the core of our protection and survivability mission,” said Scott O’Brien, President of The Safariland Group. “The Med-Eng EOD business, with its industry leading products, together with the crew survivability line, allows us to further expand our offerings to our military and law enforcement customers worldwide with trusted protective equipment designed to save lives. This acquisition strengthens and supports our company’s long term strategic commitment to provide safety and survivability products to our diversified customer base.”

The Safariland Group, acquired by an affiliate of Kanders & Company, Inc. in July 2012, is strategically expanding its portfolio of brands and pursuing acquisitions aligned with its mission of “Together, We Save Lives.” With several manufacturing operations both domestically and internationally, The Safariland Group provides 22 leading industry brands to customers worldwide.
