Cabela’s Unveils Results for the 2013 Cabela’s King Kat Classic Event on Kentucky Lake

This past Friday and Saturday September 27th & 28th the Cabela’s King Kat Tournament Trail hit the waters of the Kentucky Lake at Camden, Tennessee for the 2013 Cabela’s King Kat Classic. With anglers from 19 different states it was a grueling 2-day battle to see who would be crowned the 2013 Cabela’s King Kat Champions. Results for the Top 5 Teams

Taking first place and the 2013 Cabela’s King Kat Classic Champions are Rob Benningfield of Bowling Green, Kentucky and Chris Debow of Medeira, Ohio with a total 2-day weight of 167.05 pounds. Rob and Chris were fishing 12 miles downriver around New Johnsonville in 45-60 feet of water on the river channel anchored down to catch 10 fish in 2 days on skipjack. For first place the team earned a  20 Ft. Oquawka Boat, 115 HP Evinrude engine,  Minn Kota Trolling Motor, Humminbird Locator, Talon Shallow Water  Anchor,  T-6200 Troll King Rack by Driftmaster.

In second place was the team of Ken Luttrell of LaPlace, Illinois and Bryan Epsy of Maroa, Illinois  with 152.55 pounds and earning $5,000.00 plus (2) T-500 Big Fish Trolling Bars ($244.95) by Driftmaster. Ken and Bryan were fishing 5 miles south of the Danville bridge in 36 feet of water using skipjack to catch 10 fish for the 2 days.

Third place went to the Corinth, Mississippi team of Phil King and Tim Haynie with a total 2 day weight of 98.85 pounds and earning $3,000.00. Phil and Tim fished from the I-40 bridge to New Johnsonville drifting the river channel in 40-50 feet of water and anchored down on Saturday in the same depth using skipjack to catch 20 fish for the 2 days.

Ray Ferguson and Greg Peterson of Powell, Tennessee took fourth place with a weight of 82.45 pounds and earning $2,000.00. Ray and Greg were fishing north to the last bridge of legal waters in 12 feet of water under a log using skipjack and gizzard shad to catch 6 total fish in 2 days.

Fifth place went to Scott and Brady Webb of Norris City, Illinois with a weight of 1.65 pounds and earning $1,000.00. Scott and Brady were fishing 5 miles north of the ramp in 25 feet of water on the edge of the river channel using skipjack to catch 4 fish in 2 days.
