Fenwick Teams Up with 20 Top Collegiate Anglers

“Earn Your Wings” Program Offers Chance at Paid Internship with Fenwick

It isn’t easy being a collegiate angler. With rising cost of tackle and tuition, going after sponsors is a nearly impossible task. Fenwick saw the need to support the rising collegiate sport by selecting 20 student anglers to represent Fenwick on and off the water, and give one of these student athletes from the group a fully paid summer internship at the home offices of Fenwick in Columbia, S.C.

“The Fenwick ‘Earn Your Wings’ program has also been a great opportunity to launch the next generation of Fenwick rods,” said Casey Davidson, Fenwick brand manager. “Fenwick has been able to draw on its incredibly rich history of rod craftsmanship and push the envelope in new blank technologies and lightweight design. Fenwick is creating rods that connect lifelong Fenwick anglers with the next generation of fishing. These college anglers are all fishing Aetos rods along with the new HMG rods.”

The search for the team will begin on October 1st. Fenwick is teaming up with the Collegiate Bass Fishing Championship presented by Boat US, which will serve as the search engine. College anglers will have until November 1st to complete an application for the program.

Members of the Fenwick team will be selected based on their academic performance, extracurricular activities, leadership skills, and overall fishing tournament participation.

Each of the 20 Fenwick collegiate anglers will receive a healthy product stipend while displaying Fenwick logos on clothing and boats. All Fenwick anglers will be providing photo and video content throughout the year that will later be used on the Fenwick website and Facebook page, and digital and print advertising.

In May 2014, the top three anglers from the 20 will participate in a phone interview process for the internship position. The paid internship will consist of marketing duties as well as product development for the Fenwick brand. This one lucky angler, turned intern, will also have a heavy presence developing material for digital outlets for Fenwick.
