Toyota Texas Bass Classic Field Preview

A star-studded field of the 50 best bass fishermen in the world are practicing hard here right now for the World Championship that starts this Friday.  Three anglers in particular are entering this weekend’s competition after recent victories.

North Carolina Pro Hank Cherry is making his inaugural appearance in the TTBC.  Cherry’s stellar performance in 2013 includes a 3rd place finish at the 2013 Bassmaster Classic this past February and 2013 Rookie of the Year title on the Bassmaster Elite Series.  Last week, Cherry won the Elite Series Toyota All-Star Week Championship on Muskegon Lake and came directly to Lake Conroe to put in one day of practice.  With an aggressive game plan for Lake Conroe, Cherry is looking forward to a promising weekend.

Florida’s Randall Tharp is fishing confidently this year heading into the tournament after qualifying with a 10th place finish in the FLW Tour Angler of the Year point standings.  Just coming off his victory in the 2013 Forrest Wood Cup, Tharp hopes that TTBC will be his chance to capture two major championship wins in a single year.

Watson found his first tour level win of his career in early September at the PAA Tournament Series on Table Rock Lake.  Like Tharp and Cherry, Watson is feeling confident heading into this weekend’s competition.  Sticking with the same strategy he’s used all year, Watson hopes this TTBC will continue the best year of his career.
