The Illinois Department of Natural Resources (IDNR) today announced that the some hunting areas at the Marseilles State Fish and Wildlife Area will be closed periodically in October and November to allow for military training vital to defending our nation and state.

Hunters should be alert to the following closure schedule at Marseilles SFWA:

  • October 7, 8 and 10 – Area B will be closed; Areas A and C will be open
  • October 14, 15, 16 and 17 – Areas A and C will be closed; Area B will be open
  • October 24 – Area B will be closed; Areas A and C will be open
  • November 14 – Area B will be closed; Area A and C will be open
  • November 18 – Area A and C will be closed; Area B will be open

The Marseilles SFWA is a joint-use area for the IDNR and the Illinois Department of Military Affairs.  In the Memorandum of Understanding that governs the use of the site, either party may use the whole site when necessary.

The IDNR is honored to partner with the Illinois Department of Military affairs and fully supports important training of our soldiers who defend our state and nation every day.
