Bass Pro Shops TrophyCatch Weekend at Dania Beach Store Oct. 26-27

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) and Bass Pro Shops are teaming up to kick off the second year of the Division of Freshwater Fisheries’ TrophyCatch program with a special event. The Oct. 26-27 TrophyCatch weekend, which will be held at Bass Pro Shops’ Dania Beach store, will feature celebrity anglers, fishing seminars and giveaways.
“TrophyCatch rewards anglers for catching, documenting, and releasing trophy size bass in all waters throughout Florida. This information is critical to the protection and conservation of our lakes and rivers,” said Tom Champeau, director of Freshwater Fisheries Division for the FWC. “Our partnership with Bass Pro Shops allows us to promote the program, share catch reports with anglers, and Bass Pro Shops TrophyCatch gift cards provide valuable rewards to participating anglers. Thanks to Bass Pro Shops, we can ensure that Florida’s trophy bass will thrill anglers for decades to come!”
During the Oct. 26-27 TrophyCatch Weekend at Bass Pro Shops’ Dania Beach store, Roland Martin of Th3Legends will give a tank demonstration on how to catch trophy bass in Florida. Terry Segraves, repeat Top 5 B.A.S.S. finisher and Bassmaster Classic qualifier, and FWC biologists will also host tank demonstrations and seminars. Plus, participants can win raffle prizes such as Bass Pro Shops gift cards and a grand prize guided fishing trip to Bienville Plantation, a prime destination to catch a Florida trophy largemouth bass.
“Bass Pro Shops understands how important the TrophyCatch Program is in making sure Florida maintains its status as a premier black bass fishing destination,” said Danny Vinson, Bass Pro Shops Dania Beach store manager. “The whole focus of this weekend event is to have fun and learn how to be better bass anglers and conservationists.”
Seminars will be conducted each day that include an overview of the TrophyCatch program, the latest results of the FWC’s trophy bass tagging study, and how to catch big bass in Florida using saltwater techniques. FWC officials will be on hand to answer questions about Florida fishing opportunities, offer giveaways, and help anglers register for the TrophyCatch Program.
The Dania Beach TrophyCatch Weekend activities, which will occur from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Oct. 26-27, will include:
Oct. 26 (Saturday):
Tank Demonstrations*
- Noon – Roland Martin: Host of “Fishing with Roland Martin,” which airs on NBC Sport Network at 2 p.m. Fridays and 10:30 a.m. on Sundays, and “One of Th3Legends.” Roland holds the records for most tournaments won at 19 and most B.A.S.S. Angler-of-the-Year titles at nine. In addition, he has made 25 appearances in bass fishing’s world championship event, the Bassmaster Classic.
- 2 p.m. – Terry Segraves: B.A.S.S., FLW and professional redfish tournament trail professional.He is also a spokesman for Experience Kissimmee and advocate for “Anglers against cancer.”
- 4 p.m. – FWC biologist
*All those doing the tank demonstrations will be talking about catching trophy bass in Florida and the TrophyCatch program.
