This month Stop Aquatic Hitchhikers! (SAH!) is pleased to announce Kim Bogenschutz from the Iowa Department of Natural Resources, as the October “Partner in Action.”. As the Aquatic Invasive Species Program Coordinator, she is a leader with invasive species outreach and education. Her ability and willingness to collaborate with professionals from state, federal and national agencies make her a valued asset to help Stop Aquatic Hitchhikers!
“Kim is a great leader who is spearheading efforts to raise public awareness of aquatic and terrestrial invasive species. Her passion is making a real difference in preserving Iowa’s fish and wildlife resources,” said Pat Conzemius, Conservation Director of Wildlife Forever.
Kim actively supports the mission of the Iowa Department of Natural Resources in conserving and enhancing its natural resources through cooperation with individuals and organizations, improving the quality of life for Iowans and ensuring a legacy for future generations. Knowing the devastating impact invasive species can have, Kim works to reduce the threats invasives pose on recreation and the economy and to improve native habitat. Her ambitious and enthusiastic style engages the community and educates them on how to help protect Iowa’s natural resources.
“Invasive species don’t have boundaries. That’s why collaborating across borders and with efforts like the Stop Aquatic Hitchhikers Campaign, is so very important in preventing spread and new introductions,” explained Kim.
