Sportsman Channel Calling on Viewers to Decide the Best in Outdoor Television

2013 Sportsman Choice Awards Voting Opens Nov. 4; Incentives Include Prizes from Presenting Sponsor ZEISS Optics, as well as Daily Giveaways
Sportsman Channel has always believed its viewers to be the most important evaluators of network programming. With that in mind, voting for the network’s viewer-decided awards program – 2013 Sportsman Choice Awards – opens today, Monday, November 4.
“With the number of premier shows that have moved to Sportsman Channel and the new, original series we’ve embarked upon, the 2013 Sportsman Choice Awards promises to be the most competitive awards show to date,” said Gavin Harvey, CEO of Sportsman Channel. “There is a direct correlation between the success of this event and fan participation. Sportsman’s dedicated fans expect to watch high-quality programming and anything less will not suffice – which is reflective in the voting process.”
The 2013 Sportsman Choice Awards would not be complete without a social component. Sportsman Channel is the leader in social engagement in the outdoor industry. A recent posting on Sportsman’s Facebook page reached nearly two million unique visitors and will likely achieve 500,000 ‘likes’ by the end of 2013. Fan engagement is a significant reason for the overall growth.
This year, the network is giving away prize packages from presenting sponsor ZEISS Optics to Sportsman Choice voters, plus daily prize giveaways of Sportsman branded t-shirts, hats and more. The final award winners will be announced at the Sportsman Choice Awards party, held annually in Las Vegas during the S.H.O.T. (Shooting, Hunting, Outdoor Trade) Show in January. The voting period officially closes at midnight on Sunday, December 1.

- Best Full Draw Show (bowhunting)
- Best Educational/Instructional Show
- Best New Series
- Best Host(s)
Viewers also will vote on Moment of the Year award. This “moment” or sequence should celebrate or honor the one moment that most exemplifies what is most cherished about the outdoor lifestyle.
Also new this year is the category of “Best Blooper,” which has been a fan requested category for numerous years.
All shows and show hosts airing on the network in 2013 are eligible.
