HURRICANE Salt Tackle and Redbone Renew Commitment “To Catch the Cure” for Cystic Fibrosis

HURRICANE Salt Tackle, a Big Game International Brand, announce they have renewed their partnership with the Redbone Foundation for the next five years. The relationship, which began in 1997, will serve as a springboard for the new Redbone branding along with HURRICANE’s continued support for Redbone’s mission “to catch a sure” for cystic fibrosis.
The Redbone by HURRICANE brand of high-performance saltwater inshore and offshore rods has supported the Redbone Celebrity Tournament Series in their fight against the killer disease, cystic fibrosis for many years through proceeds donated directly to the Foundation. Over the past 17 years Redbone rods by HURRICANE have raised over $370,000 for the Foundation.
“I recall the first time I picked up a HURRICANE Redbone prototype rod,” Gary Ellis, Redbone Celebrity Tournament Series Founder commented. “The rod looked, felt and responded like a tournament rod but at three-times LESS the cost. I knew instantly that we had a rod worthy of the Redbone name.”

The Redbone Celebrity Tournament Series was founded in 1988 by Gary and Susan Ellis, parents of daughter Nicole, diagnosed with the disease in 1984and helps the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation fund research for a cure. From one small tournament in Islamorada in the Florida Keys, the Redbone has grown into 25 tournaments spanning both coasts of the US, Mexico and the Bahamas and attracting the participation of film and television celebrities, sports greats and world class anglers; all sharing the goal of “catching” a cure for CF. For the past 21 years, Redbone has contributed over 10 million dollars to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
As part of their joint relationship, the Redbone by HURRICANE saltwater rod series is launching a new Redbone brand mark to help celebrate the new 5-year contract. Redbone rods, designed in collaboration with charter boat captains – combine lightweight, strength and durability and are longtime favorites of fanatic and casual fishermen everywhere. For every sale of a Redbone rod, HURRICANE donates a percentage of the proceeds to the CF Foundation.
