Fishhound.com, the outdoor industry’s largest word-of-mouth marketing platform, announced that 16 new advertising partners signed on during the month of October. Additionally, all four partners with expiring contracts chose to renew their agreements with Fishhound. The addition of these new partners, along with the renewal rate of existing contracts, reflects Fishhound’s ability to produce significant measurable results.
“The tremendous success of mainstream review sites, such as Yelp.com, shows that people trust recommendations from friends and peers much more than paid advertisements” noted Rick Patri, Fishhound’s Vice President, Operations. “As the ‘Yelp’ of the fishing world, Fishhound is influencing angler opinions and influencing buying decisions in the very same way.”
Fishhound is not only a unique platform capable of leveraging the power of the Web and social media to maximize word-of-mouth marketing for fishing-related companies, it’s also a powerful discovery tool for anglers that may not be familiar with the products or services those companies offer. Fishhound’s Product Showcase educates fishermen, and allows members to experience the performance of everything from lures to reels to fishing accessories firsthand and socially share their experiences via Facebook, YouTube and Twitter. Fishhound members can field-test selected products and are required to review each item. Reviews are then leveraged through Fishhound’s expansive reach and posted through social media in a viral manner that exposes each partner’s brand to the appropriate audience of anglers.
Renewing Fishhound advertising partners like Daniel Kim, Director of Sales & Marketing, Damiki Fishing Tackle, are quick to point out why Fishhound’s marketing platform packs so much power. “We’ve found that there’s no better marketing method than letting serious fishermen try your offering and having those anglers tell their peers, as well as tackle shops, how much they love that product,” said Kim. “It’s this type of compelling word-of-mouth marketing that makes Fishhound more effective than any paid advertising option.”
Daniel Nussbaum, General Manager, Z-Man Fishing, echoes Kim’s feelings when it comes to Fishhound’s capabilities and track record. “We continue to see that recommendations from peers are among the greatest influences on purchasing decisions, and that partnering with Fishhound.com will get our product in the hands of avid anglers nationwide to generate those positive recommendations,” said Nussbaum. “Social media has been a key tool for our company in educating anglers about the benefits of our 10X Tough ElaZtech material, and Fishhound has obviously done a tremendous job in that space. This partnership is really a natural fit for Z-Man.”
