The second leg of the Whitetail Pro Series will take place in the big buck hotbed of northeastern Missouri. The State Line Bone Mine will play host to the final Invitational of the 2013/2014 Whitetail Pro Series season, featuring eight returning AWA Pros battling for both the Invitational title and the right to advance to the AWA WPS Championship in January. There they will join four other AWA Pros already qualified for the Championship event in Kansas by way of the Roblyn’s Neck (SC) Invitational that took place in November.
The State Line Bone Mine operates just outside of Luray, MO. Chad Hatfield, owner/operator, offers his hunters access to approximately 4000 acres of prime, midwestern whitetail territory. Hatfield remarks “I opened this camp in 2005 to try and fill a need that I thought was lacking in the outfitting world. I wanted to give guys a chance to chase huge midwest bucks and experience some of the best eastern turkey hunting in the country in a small camp environment at an affordable price.” This attention to the hunter and the management practices employed by Hatfield create an ideal host for the Whitetail Pro Series according to AWA President David Fort. “Chad does things the right way. He maintains a small numbers of hunters to minimize the pressure on his herd and couples that with great effort towards his management practices. When you mesh that with the big buck potential found in this region, it all adds up to a fantastic place. We are really excited about the opportunity to compete at the Bone Mine!”
“There’s a lot riding on this Invitational” states Fort. “These guys are all wanting to win this thing, but on top of that they are competing for the final four spots available in Kansas for the Championship. It also makes it interesting to have eight returning AWA Pros as a lot of these guys know each other and have competed against each other previously. We have a very solid group here at the Bone Mine and I’m expecting to see an extremely competitive event”
The Whitetail Pro Series State Line Bone Mine Invitational will take place December 11-15, 2013. You can catch all the action from the Whitetail Pro Series in the 3rd and 4th quarters of 2014 on the Pursuit Channel.
