USA Youth Educations in Shooting Sports Foundation (USAYESS) has announced that they will be giving away over $400,000 in endowment money to participants and winning teams in the 2014 regional and national championships. The funds are possible because of a generous grant from Larry and Brenda Potterfield and all endowment money will be deposited into the team’s account at MidwayUSA Foundation.
There will be three open regional events and one closed regional event. The three open events are the East Coast Youth Clay Target Open at Forest City Gun Club, in Savannah, GA May 16-18, the West Coast Youth Clay Target Open, at Seattle Skeet and Trap in Seattle, WA May 30 – June 1, and the Midwest Clay Youth Clay Target Open, at St. Louis Trap and Skeet in St. Louis, MO May 30 – June 1. The one closed event that is available only to teams in the following states AK, AZ, CA, CO, ID, MT, NM, NV, OR, UT, WA & WY is the Western Youth Clay Target Championship at the Cody Shooting Complex in Cody, WY There is limited space at all of the regional championships so entering early is strongly recommended.
The USAYESS Youth Clay Target National Open Championship will be held at the National Shooting Complex in San Antonio, TX June 26-29, 2014. The National Open Championship is limited to the first 2000 shooters. All of the open regional events combined with the open national event will be called the USAYESS Cup Series. The winning cup series team will be presented with the USAYESS Cup at the National Youth Target Open Championship.

The championships are open to all youth programs and individuals regardless of being a member of USAYESS or not, just come and compete for the National Title.” said USAYESS advisory committee member Craig Hancock
All youth shooting teams such as SCTP, 4-H Shooting Sports, and Youth Target Foundation, are invited to participate in all of the open regional events as well as the national open championship. There is no USAYESS required membership. Some organizations may require a team to attend their state championship before being eligible to attend a regional or national event. Teams should check with their state or program directors for eligibility requirements
USAYESS is committed to growing youth shooting and outdoor experiences that the entire family can enjoy together. USAYESS advises and works in partnership with affiliated state youth shooting programs. USAYESS affiliated states with current 501 c 3 status are Alaska, Arizona, California, Oregon, Idaho, Nevada, and Washington. Affiliated states that are working on their 501 c 3 status are Colorado, Montana, Wyoming, Nebraska, Minnesota, Georgia, Missouri, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Michigan, South Dakota, North Dakota, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Iowa, Arkansas, Louisiana, and Kansas. Some of the events that USAYESS and affiliates organize are Youth Outdoor Experience Events, Clay Shooting Basics, USAS, NRA, and CMP Level 1 Shotgun Coach Certifications, Breaking Clays Clinics Coaching for Success, Clay Target Cup Series and liability and medical insurance for youth shooting teams and coaches.
USAYESS is a nonprofit educational association which introduces, grows, supports and educates youth and coaches about the shooting sports and wildlife conservation. The mission of USAYESS is to use hand-on events, competitive shooting sports, wildlife and habitat conservation programs to introduce and educate young people about safe firearm handling and outdoor activities that they and their families can share together for a lifetime.
