The Ontario Knife Company Introduces the OKC Chimera

The right knife, at the right place, at the right moment can make all the difference in the world during extreme circumstances. That’s where the new-for-2014 Ontario Knife Company Chimera knife rises to the challenge. Rated for any scenario from automobile accidents to the apocalypse, the new OKC Chimera incorporates key features inspired by some of the company’s most popular survival and military-issued knives to deliver unparalleled performance, versatility and durability.

“The OKC Chimera is an important piece in the broad array of new products Ontario Knife has planned to release during our 125th Anniversary year”, said Kenneth Trbovich, President and CEO of OKC. “We are taking Ontario’s long and storied history and harnessing its experience to drive us forward into a new era.”

The OKC Chimera joins OKC’s renowned military knife lineup – the top choice of the world’s elite forces that depend upon these knives when their lives are on the line. Thanks to the OKC Chimera’s high quality design and production, this blade is hardcore, dependable, and built to get the job done. The 13 5/8-inch OKC Chimera features a phosphated full-tang blade, built for ruggedness, long life and superior penetrating power. A portion of this 7 7/8-inch long, 200-inch thick blade features a broad serration pattern, perfect for handling a wide range of survival assignments while being easy to sharpen in the field.

“If this knife seems familiar, that is by design – it was built to incorporate decades of product development into one robust, powerful package,” said Robert Cass, OKC’s Director of Special Projects. “The OKC Chimera represents an evolutionary step, a survivor; the top of  the food chain.”

OKC has equipped the Chimera with a high-quality Kraton handle to provide a comfortable, secure hold under all conditions, and a phosphate coated steel butt cap. The butt cap can be used as a glass breaker to assist in escape efforts, or for non-lethal enforcement and self-defense applications. Users will also appreciate the OKC Chimera’s utility and survival cross guard, which features a set of machined holes that allows the knife to be affixed to spear-poles and other objects using cords, wires or even vines.

“The OKC Chimera is inspired by the qualities of the mythical beast that is its namesake,” said Deneb Pirrone, OKC’s Director of Global Marketing and Sales. “This knife is versatile, rugged and uncompromising.”

Made in the U.S.A, the OKC Chimera offers exceptional quality and reliability at a surprisingly affordable price ($149.95 MSRP). The knife includes a Kraton and polypropylene black tactical sheath.
