James Stewart Re-Ups with Yoshimura Suzuki

James Stewart has signed an extension to his current contract with the Yoshimura Suzuki team with the multi-time AMA Supercross/Motocross Champion set to race for the squad again in 2015.

Stewart joined the Yoshimura Suzuki team mid-season in 2012 after opting out of his deal with the JGR Yamaha team. Stewart’s new deal is for both the Supercross and AMA Motocross Championships – the same as his current contract.

The 28-year-old Stewart won his first AMA Supercross of the season last weekend in San Diego’s Qualcomm Stadium. He is currently fourth in the series point standings as the team heads to Dallas this weekend for round seven.

“I’m really happy to keep racing with Yoshimura Suzuki,” said Stewart in a team release. “It was great to get that first win at San Diego last weekend. I feel more comfortable than ever with the team and we’ve gotten the set-up on the Yoshimura Suzuki RM-Z450 dialed in to where I feel really good on the bike. This year, we’ve made a lot of progress as a team and I’m looking forward to keeping that momentum going through the rest of the year and next season.”

Team manager Mike Webb is happy to have Stewart returning to the team for the 2015 season.

“Working with James has been a tremendously gratifying experience,” said Webb. “We’ve really begun gelling as a team and I feel like we’re just now approaching our true potential. Everyone at Yoshimura Suzuki is looking forward to working with James through the 2014 and 2015 racing seasons, and possibly beyond.”
