The 15th Annual Muzzy Bowfishing Classic & Alabama State Championship Registration Opens Soon

Registration will open on Feb. 18 for the 15th Annual Muzzy Classic & Alabama State Championship bowfishing tournament, which will be held April 26-27, 2014, at Lake Guntersville Harbor and Marina in Guntersville Ala. With guaranteed prize money of $3,500 for first place and more cash prizes paid based on number of entries, this is one of the most popular tournaments in the region.
The primary tournament is a Big-20 format with boat limits of three grass carp and 15 buffalo fish. No catfish are allowed, and there are no exceptions on the catfish. Prizes will also be awarded for bringing in the heaviest carp, the longest gar, the heaviest grass carp and the heaviest buffalo. This is a two- or three-man tournament with $150 entry fee. Potential payouts, not including prizes, are: second place $2,500; third place $1,500; fourth place $1,000; fifth place $750; and sixth place $500.
Pre-registration is highly encouraged, as teams leave in the order that they register. This year, the one-day early call-in pre-registration will be conducted Feb. 18 from 8:30 a.m. through 5 p.m. EST. Call 866-387-9307 to get in the starting line up. With 62 teams last year, getting a good start is important.
Regular registration will be conducted at the tournament site, Harbor Marina in Guntersville between 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. on April 26, with a mandatory meeting at the launch site for all teams at 6:30 p.m. The tournament runs from 7 p.m. through 7 a.m. April 27.
This year, new fishing areas have been opened to accommodate the growing number of participants and to add to fish count. Crow Creek and North Sauty Refuge will be part of the tournament’s unrestricted areas. No airboats or fan boats will be allowed on this new fishing territory.
