Mercury Names Five Anglers to National Pro Team

Mercury Marine National Pro Team anglers enjoyed a hugely successful 2013 season that was highlighted by Aaron Martens’ B.A.S.S. Angler of Year title.

The Mercury Marine National Pro Team will become even more formidable this year with the addition of five anglers – Josh Bertrand, Casey Scanlon, Bernie Schultz, Hank Cherry (2013 B.A.S.S. Rookie of the Year) and Greg Vinson – to the 2014 team.

“We’re excited to add such talented anglers to our Mercury National Pro Team,” said Andrew Starr, manager of competitive angling at Mercury Marine. “Each of our newcomers comes to us with an impressive fishing resume. We’re looking forward to a successful 2014 season.”

Josh Bertrand: In 2012, Josh took home the Bassmaster Central Open Tour Angler of The Year title, and qualified for the 2013 Bassmaster Elite Series. He finished 37th in BASS AOY points and has qualified for the 2014 Bassmaster Classic.

Casey Scanlon: Casey started fishing the B.A.S.S. Elite series in 2012 and after fishing in the 2013 Bassmaster Classic. He had a strong 2013, including a 3rd place finish at the 2013 Elite Series Ramada Quest on Bull Shoals Lake.

Bernie Schultz: Bernie returns to the National Pro Team bringing plenty of experience. He has qualified for the Bassmaster Classic eight times and the FLW Cup five times. When not on the water, he can usually be found in his studio producing art related to angling. Serving as a freelance illustrator, his works appear regularly in various magazines and books dedicated to the sport, including Bassmaster and B.A.S.S. Times. He is also a longtime columnist at the Florida Sportsman magazine.

Hank Cherry: Hank Cherry busted onto the national fishing scene in early 2013 with a third place finish at the Bassmaster Classic on Oklahoma’s Grand Lake of the Cherokees. Hank continued his Elite Series success in 2013 by earning B.A.S.S. Rookie of the Year honors and winning the All Star event on Muskegan Lake in Michigan.

Greg Vinson: Greg started fishing the B.A.S.S. Elite series in 2010 and finished the 2013 season in 16th place in the Angler of the Year standings. He qualified for the 2014 Bassmaster Classic (his 3rd) and had an 8th place Elite Series finish at the West Point Lake Battle. He also finished second in the Southern Open event on Logan Martin Lake in Alabama.
