SIG SAUER Team Captain Max Michel, Jr., put in a little extra time on the competition circuit this weekend, picking up two titles to show for his effort.
At the United States Practical Shooting Association (USPSA) Area 6 Championship, Michel refused to let travel delays and a short night of sleep stand in the way of his winning performance. Against a field full of Grandmaster-level competitors, Michel posted 1099.5918 match points, putting him almost seven percentage points ahead of the runner-up.
Before his Area 6 appearance, Michel dominated the competition at the Oilfield Classic. Michel’s 1535.0000 match points gave him a more than 15 percentage point advantage over the rest of the pack.
“Not a lot of competitors could shake off the fatigue and stress of delayed flights, late arrivals and early morning starts,” said Jarrod McDevitt, SIG SAUER Product Manager, Rifles & Competitive Shooting Program Manager. “But in addition to being one of the technically best shooters in the world, Max is also one of the mentally toughest as well.”
As a major sponsor of the Oilfield Classic and a long-time supporter of the USPSA, SIG SAUER is proud to support the shooting sports. In addition to the spirit of competition and sportsmanship, SIG SAUER believes that competition shooting is a great tool for teaching safe gun handling and responsibility.
Michel will be on hand in the SIG SAUER booth (#3652) at the National Rifle Association Annual Meetings and Exhibits, April 25-27 in Indianapolis, IN.
