This Week, Outdoor Channel and Downrange TV’s Michael Bane Visits Gun Guy Radio

If you think Michael Bane is only about the variety of television shows that he hosts on The Outdoor Channel, Episode 116 of Gun Guy Radio is a must listen for you.  Although Michael is a lifelong gun enthusiast, his interests are wide ranging spanning from adventure sports to business journalism to rock and roll music.  Michael began his professional life as a journalist and he has written for magazines such as Men’s Journal and Esquire as well as authoring twenty-two books. More recently Michael has been a writer and producer for several shows on The Outdoor Channel.  His career with The Outdoor Channel began as the creator of Shooting Gallery, which is now the longest continuous gun specific television program.  His repertoire of shows now includes Gun Stories with Joe Mantegna, Best Defense, and his podcast Downrange Radio.

During this wide ranging interview Jake Challand and Michael Bane discuss Michael’s application for a New York City handgun permit, his first handgun, Gun Culture 2.0, and the inception of IDPA. This is all in addition to his run ins with Jerry Lee Lewis, stories of shooting with Hank Williams, Jr. and traveling the world writing about adventure sports.  Michael Bane is undoubtedly one of the most interesting interviews in the history of Gun Guy Radio.

The Brownell’s Product Spotlight is on the Advanced Armament Corporation and its system of products.  AAC has been well known for its muzzle devices for a long time.  The Blackout Flash hider has long prongs to dissipate the unburned powder and comes with a connection point for a suppressor. The company also manufactures muzzle brakes that are set up for suppressor use.  As the developer of the .300 Blackout, AAC manufactures a variety of products that are complimentary of that calibre, but also makes products that are compatible with .224/5.56 and .308/7.62 rifles.  Of course, AAC also makes upper receivers in .300 Blackout.  Finally, Brownell’s will be selling AAC suppressors beginning in the summer of 2014.

GGR will make you a winner in two ways.  First, by signing up for the Gun Guy Radio email newsletter, you can be entered to win a Brownell’s M16 Bolt Carrier Group.  Four of the Brownell’s BCGs will given away during the month of April. Second, one lucky Gun Guy Radio listener will win a Bond Arms Back Up in .45 ACP.  This contest is winding down, but each gun or gear review submitted to the Firearms Insider before April 30, 2014, gives the reviewer an entry into this giveaway.  There is no limit to the number of entries that any one person can submit.  All reviews should be submitted at http://firearmsinsider.tv/submit/.
