Cousins Tackle Corp of Huntington Beach, California, has announced its first retail partners that will help bring the company’s premium-quality, American-made fishing rods and reels to anglers across the Sunshine State.
This first wave of dealers includes six Sunshine Ace locations in Naples, Marco Island, Bonita Springs and Fort Meyers. Cousins Tackle will also be working with leading independent Florida tackle retailers Custom Rod and Reel in Lighthouse Point, and Juno Bait and Tackle in North Palm Beach.
Cousins Tackle has developed a full series of rods specifically for Florida inshore anglers. The Cousins Florida A1A Series – named after the iconic highway Florida anglers use to get from one fishing hotspot to another – was developed with the help of Florida fishing legend Dave Justice. These premium quality, American-made rods feature state-of-the-art high modulus graphite blanks with actions fine-tuned for Florida fishing techniques. The series includes 25 casting, spinning, conventional live bait and conventional “swimbait” models. Florida anglers chasing redfish, snook, bonefish, permit, tarpon and more will find a new Cousins A1A rod that’s perfect for the job.
In addition to these specialized inshore rods, Cousins manufactures an extensive family of rods for nearly every salt and freshwater application – more than 300 models in all. This includes several families of state-of-the-art graphite and fiberglass bass fishing rods, with actions custom-tuned for every bass fishing style known to man. These rods and other are certain to be well received by Florida fishermen when they become widely available.
Although Cousins’ California factory has been producing rods for only about a year, actual cousins Bill Buchanan and Wade Cunningham – who together run the company – have a rich and storied history in the American fishing tackle business. Over several decades, these business partners have been instrumental in such iconic tackle brands as Sevenstrand, Fenwick, Seeker, Sage, Shikari, and Berkley.
“In addition to rolling our own blanks and handcrafting rods here in America, a key goal of our company is to support our country’s independent tackle retailers,” said Cousins CEO Bill Buchanan. “Cousins rods will be sold only through independent tackle retailers, and they will benefit from territorial exclusivity. “As such, we are very selective about the dealers we partner with. These six Sunshine Ace locations, as well as Custom Rod and Reel and Juno Bait and Tackle, are all excellent representatives of the Cousins line,” added Buchanan.
Every Cousins rod is backed by a limited lifetime warranty with Cousins Tackle Factory Service. To learn more, contact Cousins Tackle Corporation at (714) 893-0423 or visit www.cousinstackle.com to find your nearest dealer.
