SIG SAUER Signs on as Title Sponsor for Area 6 Multigun Championship

SIG SAUER, Inc. has signed on as the title sponsor of the SIG SAUER Area 6 Multigun Championship. This United States Practical Shooting Association sanctioned match will be held June 27-29 at the Universal Shooting Academy in Frostproof, Fla.
“SIG SAUER has always been a supporter of the shooting sports,” said Jarrod McDevitt, SIG SAUER Product Manager, Rifles and the Competitive Shooting Program Manager. “While that has largely been focused on action pistol disciplines, the wide spectrum of our product line made it a natural progression for us to support multigun matches as well.”
Home to some of the world’s most prestigious matches, the Universal Shooting Academy staff is eager to showcase the range facilities and challenge the top multigun competitors.
“This is a great facility for matches,” said Robby Johnson, SIG SAUER Manager, Special Weapons Products. “The match directors have great imagination when it comes to stage design. I’m proud that SIG SAUER can be a part of this competition.”
Johnson, an Army Marksmanship Unit veteran and a match champion on the 3-Gun Nation circuit, will be competing in select multigun matches this season wearing a SIG SAUER shirt and using the company’s products. He will use P226 XFive and XSix pistols, along with SIG516 and SIGM400 rifles in matches.
“Universal Shooting Academy is proud to resurrect the SIG SAUER Area 6 Multigun Championship,” said Match Director Shannon Smith. “It has been a few years since anyone hosted USPSA’s southeast regional multigun match. We hope to make it a regular stop on the 3-gun tour. We are very happy to have SIG SAUER involved and hope to develop a long term relationship with them as title sponsor.”
