Selling Handguns and Law Enforcement/Tactical Gear Inside May Issue of Shooting Industry

The May issue of Shooting Industry grants dealers an inside look into how to approach handgun sales with new consumers and trends in the law enforcement and tactical market. In “Selling Handguns,” Greg Staunton examines the new breed of handgun buyers, and identifies what customers are searching for and how to ensure their business.

“Local firearms dealers who really know their handguns, who can think on their feet and are willing to educate and work with these new customers can expect their attentiveness to pay huge dividends,” explains Staunton. “What gets this new breed of handgun owners excited? Yes, some want the latest ‘does-and-has-every-feature’ firearm, but many are looking for reliability and simplicity.”

Carolee Anita Boyles provides a detailed profile of the Law Enforcement and Tactical gear sections at SHOT Show 2014, outlining new products and examining the brisk order-writing experienced at this year’s show. She spoke with Jake Arnsdorff, Daniel Defense national sales manager, to determine the industry’s attitude on the future of the tactical market.

“We’ve been pleasantly surprised at how many folks are still moving a big number of our rifles. We haven’t seen a big decrease from last year,” asserted Arnsdorff. “In fact, including the orders we took prior to SHOT, we’ve actually sold more than we had at this point last year.”

Also in the May issue, the Law Enforcement and Tactical New Product Showcase highlights the latest and greatest in this burgeoning market, which offers many opportunities for additional sales. The Showcase features everything from firearms, ammunition and flashlights to patrol packs, vests and watches.
