Locals Support Idaho’s 2014 Shoot for a Cure

Last weekend, nearly 200 people arrived at Nampa Rod & Gun Club and Parma Rod & Gun Club, many clad in pink including a bunch of pink guns and gear for the 7th annual Shoot For A Cure, Idaho.

The annual event brings together all levels of shooters, beginner to pro for a fun and inspirational day of shooting and caring. Match directors design fun and challenging courses of fire to introduce different types of pistol shooting scenarios. Stages involve shooting various size steel and cardboard targets supplied by MGM Targets including targets partially hidden from view and shooters moving to engage targets.

Regardless of skill level, every participant whether shooter, volunteer or sponsor is a strong supporter of health and wellness especially for local women. Many of these women don’t have the resources for regular mammograms which is what the Shoot For A Cure is all about – raising money for mammograms.

Each year, Shoot for a Cure together with Mountain States Tumor Institute (MSTI) team up with local companies which sponsor the event. Key sponsors include St.Lukes Medical Center, NRGC, PRGC, MGM Targets, Tactical Solutions, Hawktech Arms, Charter Arms, BlackHawk, Gem Stop, Cabelas, Balmshot, Ruger, Crimson Trace, Vortex Optics and Ray of Light Photography.

This year’s event again rose to the occasion with raffles, auctions, lunch, an outpouring of charity and a good dose of fun. All in all Shoot For A Cure, Idaho has raised over $60,000 since 2008 including over $9,000 this year.
