Team Hoyt Stays Hot at Redding Western Classic

Redding, California was the scene for the annual Western Classic Trail Shoot held at Straight Arrow Bowhunters Archery Club, and Team Hoyt was blazing through the course and shooting even hotter than the temperatures.

A favorite amongst archers from all over the country who happily make the pilgrimage out west to shoot at targets ranging from 4 to 101 yards, this year’s event had record attendance with over 1600 shooters on the course and the weather couldn’t have been better with temperatures between 80 and 90 degrees and light winds.

Team Hoyt shooters certainly took advantage of the conditions and ripped through the course. When the cards were turned in, there was a 4-way tie for first place in Men’s Pro class at 1533/1540 between Jesse Broadwater, Rob Morgan, Hoyt Marketing Employee Steve Anderson, and Hoyt Product Engineer Brian Gold.

A one arrow, closest-to-center shoot-off at 88 yards would decide the winner as a crowd of 500 plus lined up to watch the drama unfold. In the end, Broadwater edged out Morgan, Anderson and Gold to repeat as Champion after setting the course record the previous year. Morgan ended up second, and Anderson third to round out another Hoyt podium sweep!

Broadwater also teamed up with Team Hoyt’s Shane Wills for the Team Shoot portion, and made a spectacular dead center shot at 88 yards to edge out the Hoyt employee team of Anderson and Gold, who were just millimeters away from dead center themselves.

In Senior Pro, Rodger Willett Jr. didn’t need a shoot-off to win, as he walked away with the outright victory after three days of great shooting. Willett has won Redding twice, this being his first victory in the 50 and over Senior Class.

Women’s Pro saw Erika Jones making yet another trip to the podium, finishing second; and Team Hoyt’s Jamie Van Natta finished third. In the Men’s Amateur Freestyle division, Emerson Munkres shot a podium topping score of 1529.

All of these shooters were using the Pro Comp Elite series of bows. For more information on how you can get the best shooting bows in the world, visit Hoyt.com and your local Authorized Hoyt Dealer!
