Donzi Offers 35 ZFX Cuddy via Factory-Direct Program

Donzi is happy to announce the delivery of its first 35 ZFX Cuddy built through the builder’s new Factory-Direct Program. Buyers now work directly with the factory staff to purchase, personalize and build their new Donzi or Fountain powerboat.
“What happens is a customer will call or email an inquiry, and we discuss their needs for everything from performance and engine packages to hull color and custom upholstery,” said Johnny Walker, CEO of Donzi parent company Baja Marine. “Between myself and engineer David Hardison, we can answer all their questions. The customer also can come down for a factory tour and meet everyone in person.”
“The entire process was great,” said the owner of the new 35 ZFX Cuddy. “We got to spec our boat with the factory and they sent us photos throughout the production process. When the boat was finished, I went and got a plant tour with Johnny Walker and got to meet the people who actually built my boat…. What an excellent group of people.”
The owner then did a performance trial of the boat on the river behind the factory. “It was even better than I ever imagined,” he said. “What a rush. My boat was perfect and I can’t wait to get it home. This was truly a wonderful experience.”
Having space onboard for lots of family and friends may seem to conflict with outstanding speed and handling, but the Donzi 35 ZFX offers both. The Donzi 35 ZFX Cuddy is a hybrid that is equal parts center console fish boat, luxuriously appointed entertainer and rugged offshore performer. With its comfortable forward seating, ample amenities and breathtaking performance, the 35 ZFX easily accommodates a wide range of on-water activities. The cabin inside the large center console also offers a place to escape the sun or spend the night.
“It’s one of our more popular center consoles of the Donzi line,” Walker said. “You can take 10 or 12 of your closest friends with you out boating and everyone will have plenty of room.”
The Donzi 35 ZFX Cuddy was first launched in 2004, and in 2008 and 2009 a series of design improvements were implemented. The transom rear seat was reconfigured to rise up on an electric ram, offering service access to the pumps and batteries. The throttles and shifters were moved from the dash to a built-in console to the right of the helm seat. This new design allows for more comfortable driving and throttle operation from the drop-down bolster seat. A popular option is an electric Sport Bolster, which allows driver and co-pilot to raise, lower, and adjust their seat bottom with the push of a button.
Forward of the console is a unique, contoured L-seat that offers plenty of room for passengers to stretch out and relax. Within easy reach guests will find a cockpit wet bar with beverage holders and a freshwater sink. Anglers will appreciate the fish box with macerator pump aft, along with two additional fish boxes to port and starboard.
Inside the center console is an enclosed head compartment with nearly six feet of headroom, equipped with a freshwater sink, shower, and head. The spacious forward cuddy features a fiberglass liner for easy cleanup, and a large v-berth with storage beneath.
Other configuration options include either a standard forward-raked aluminum arch with retractable bimini top, or optional fiberglass hardtop with integrated lighting, speakers, and locking electronics box.
The boat is powered by twin Mercury Verado 300 outboards. Their supercharged design delivers extraordinary torque for immediate planing and superior mid-range operation. Paired with Donzi’s ventilated Z-tech high performance hull, the Verados deliver top speeds of over 66 mph.
