Tenessee Bass Pro Shops Store Manager Pledges to Help Families Enjoy Outdoor Activities

One of Jeff Hall’s favorite things to do is enjoy outdoor activities with his family.

“I enjoy teaching them to bait a hook and fish; start a campfire; and pitch a tent.  We make good memories exploring the outdoors,” he said.

His other favorite thing to do is combine his work experience with his passion for the outdoors.  As the new store manager for the soon-to-open Bass Pro Shops Outdoor World in Bristol, Tennessee, he has succeeded at both.

Located on the northeast quadrant of the Exit 74 intersection of Interstate 81 and Highway 11W in Bristol, Tennessee, the 104,000 square-foot Bass Pro Shops Outdoor World store is the primary anchor tenant for The Pinnacle—a 400-acre mixed use development.  This new Bass Pro Shops® mega outdoors store will serve the Tri-Cities area and greater region of Bristol, Virginia/Tennessee, Kingsport and Johnson City, Tennessee, with over 3 million people in a 100-mile radius.

Hall grew up living near the Ohio River, which gave him plenty of fishing opportunities.  In addition, he went hunting with his father in West Virginia — a tradition he now enjoys with his son.  As the Bristol store manager, he is excited to be able to help other families make outdoor memories.

“At the Bristol store, as at all Bass Pro Shops locations, we will be offering free outdoor skills workshops,” he said.  “These will be for novice adults, kids, and especially families.  From hunter education and safety classes, to beginning fishing, setting up a campsite, Dutch oven cooking, nature photography and more, Bass Pro Shops not only sells the outdoors product, but also teaches how to use it.”

This concept fits well with Bass Pro Shops philosophy and their dedication to conservation. Bass Pro Shops is widely recognized for its support of conservation and outdoor education, and its Bristol store will partner with local and regional conservation groups to help manage natural resources and provide opportunities for people to enjoy the outdoors. In fact, the store’s grand opening in August gets underway with a special Evening for Conservation event that is free and open to the public. More details about this event, which provides fund raising opportunities on behalf of conservation, will be available in the upcoming months.

Hall came to Bass Pro Shops after a 20-plus year career with Sears.  For the past seven and a half years he was the general manager of the Bass Pro Shops Outdoor World in Bolingbrook, Illinois.

He says he is looking forward to being back in the area he grew up in and can’t wait for he and his family to ride ATV’s and hike the many outdoor trails in the vicinity.

Bass Pro Shops Outdoor World Bristol is expected to employ approximately 250-300 associates from the area. A job fair will be held Monday, June 2, through Wednesday, June 4 at the Holiday Inn Hotel and Bristol Convention Center, 3005 Linen Drive, in Bristol, Virginia from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. each day.

“We will work hard to hire individuals who have a great knowledge of the area, and a love of the outdoors, so our customers will be able to get everything they need for their outdoor experience,” said Hall.
