TBF, FLW Announce 2014 High School Fishing Conference Championship Dates, Locations

The Bass Federation (TBF) and FLW today announced dates and locations for the 2014 Student Angler Federation (SAF) High School Fishing Conference Championships. While many state championships are already complete, several High School Fishing State Championships and a High School Fishing Open will be held in the coming weeks. The top 10 percent of teams in each state championship advance to a conference championship along with the top three teams from each of five High School Fishing Opens held in conjunction with Walmart FLW Tour stops this season. The top 10 percent of teams in each conference championship advance to the 2015 High School Fishing National Championship that will coincide with the TBF National Championship and an FLW Tour stop in the spring. Each member of the winning team at the National Championship receives a $5,000 scholarship.

All SAF High School Fishing anglers are eligible for and encouraged to attend the pinnacle of high school fishing events, the 2014 High School Fishing World Finals, to be held July 14-19 in Russellville, Ark. Registration for the World Finals is now open at highschoolfishing.org.

Registration for the 2014 SAF High School Fishing Conference Championships opens July 1 at highschoolfishing.org for all teams qualified for advancement through the state championships or opens.

Central Conference Championship – Sunday, Sept. 28 on Lake Erie in Huron, Ohio, launching from the Huron Boat Basin ramp. In the event of high winds, the tournament will be limited to the Huron River. Mandatory onsite check-in is Saturday, Sept. 27 from 6 to 6:30 p.m. with the rules meeting to immediately follow at the Masters Walleye Circuit Championship weigh-in trailer. Qualifiers from IL, IN, IA, MI, MN, ND, OH, SD, WVA and WI are eligible to compete in this event and must register online beginning July 1. Takeoff is 7 a.m. with a 3 p.m. weigh-in, EST.

Northern Conference Championship – Saturday, Sept. 20 on the Nanticoke and Wicomico Rivers in Bethel, Del., launching from Phillips Landing. Mandatory onsite check-in is Friday, Sept. 19 from 5 to 5:30 p.m. with the rules meeting to immediately follow at the TBF Mid-Atlantic Divisional Championship weigh-in trailer. Qualifiers from CT, DE, ME, MD, MA, NH, NJ, NY, ON, PA, RI, VT and VA are eligible to compete in this event and must register online beginning July 1. Takeoff is 6:30 a.m. with a 2:30 p.m. weigh-in, EST.

Southeastern Conference Championship – Sunday, Sept. 28 on Nickajack Lake in Kimball, Tenn., launching from Shellmound Campground Park. Mandatory onsite check-in is Saturday, Sept. 27 from 5 to 6 p.m. with the rules meeting to immediately follow. Qualifiers from AL, FL, GA, KY, MS, NC, SC and TN are eligible to compete in this event and must register online beginning July 1. Takeoff is 6:30 a.m. with a 2:30 p.m. weigh-in, CST.

Western Conference Championship – Sunday, Oct. 12 on Clear Lake in Clear Lake, Calif., launching from Konocti Vista Resort and Marina. Mandatory onsite check-in is Saturday, Oct. 11 from 5 to 5:30 p.m. with the rules meeting to immediately follow at the FLW College Fishing Invitational weigh-in trailer. Qualifiers from AZ, CA, CO, ID, MT, NV, OR, UT, WA and WY are eligible to compete in this event and must preregister online after July 1. Takeoff is 7 a.m. with a 3 p.m. weigh-in, PST.

Southern Conference Championship – Sunday, Oct. 19 on the Red River in Shreveport/Bossier City, La, launching from Red River South Marina. Mandatory onsite check-in is Saturday, Oct. 18 from 5 to 6 p.m. with the rules meeting to immediately follow. Qualifiers from AR, KS, LA, MO, NE, NM, OK and TX are eligible to compete in this event and must register online beginning July 1. Takeoff is 7 a.m. with a 3 p.m. weigh-in, CST.
