Cabela’s King Kat Tournament Releases Results for 2014 Charleston, WV 2-Day Super Event

This past Friday and Saturday 13th & 14th, 2014 the Cabela’s King Kat Tournament Trail hit the waters of the  waters of the Kanawha River at Charleston, West Virginia. In the event over  80 of the top anglers from 8 different states were competing not only for the cash and prizes, but the opportunity to qualify for the 2014 Cabela’s King Kat East and West Championship. This year’s West Championship will be held September 19 & 20, 2014 on the Mississippi and Rock Rivers at Quad Cities, Iowa. The East Championship will be held October 3 & 4, 2014 on Lake Wateree at Camden, South Carolina. Be sure to check out our website at: www.kingkatusa.com. Results for the Top 5 Teams

Taking first place was Adam Scott of Red House West Virginia and Tyler Booth of Buffalo, West Virginia weighing in a 2-day total of 115.4 pounds and earning $4,000.00. In addition the team captured big fish of the event earning them $900.00 for their 34.22 pound blue catfish. Adam and Tyler were fishing the Red House area on the Kanawha River using shad and skipjack for bait. Team was anchored 20 yards off the bank in 26feet of water.

In second place was the Oakhill, Ohio team of Chris Sounders and Justin Horner with 114.54 pounds and earning $2,000.00. Chris and Justin were fishing  the Raymond City area of the river. Team anchored and fished shallow both days using skipjack to catch 25 fish for both days.

Third place went to the Arcanum, Ohio team of Don and Alex Hoffman weighing in 110.5 pounds and earning $1,000.00. Don and Alex fished 5-10miles down river of the Daniel Boone Boat ramp, anchored in 15-20 feet of water. Team used skipjack to land 17 fish for both days.

Jackie Call and Christina Morton of Winfield, West Virginia  took fourth place with a weight of 108.18 pounds and earning $500.00. Jackie and  Christina fished the Nitro area, anchored in 25 feet of water. Team used skip jack to catch 16 fish for both days.

Fifth place went to Justin Conner of Culloden, West Virginia Tabitha Linville of Milton, West Virginia the Marina City area of the Kanawha River using shad to catch 19 fish for both days.

Cabela’s King Kat Free Kids Fishing Rodeo

In conjunction with the tournament Cabela’s King Kat held their Kids Rodeo on Saturday morning with several local children attending the event. All the participants signed up for a chance to win one of 6-$1,000.00 scholarships to be drawn for at the Cabela’s Crappie USA Classic this fall.

Cabela’s King Kat, Crappie USA and our anglers have contributed nearly $322,000.00 to the “Outdoor Kids” Scholarships since 1997. We are very proud to be a part of the education process for the youngsters who participate in our tournaments as adult/youth teams and those who fish in the Cabela’s King Kat, “Kids Fishing Rodeos”.
