World Team Members Tune Up for World Championships with Spain Grand Prix

The significance of range familiarity will become apparent starting Thursday with the start of the Spain Grand Prix with the USA Shooting sending 32 World Championship team members participating. The trip is serving one purpose and that is to ensure all athletes are as familiar with conditions and environment awaiting them in Granada, site of the International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) World Championships later this summer.
The World Championships prelude will take place on the CEAR Juan Carlos I range and feature competitors from 25 countries. There is no shortage of contenders internationally as well to create that competitive environment this team craves. Top competitors include Rajmond Debevec (SLO), Peter Sidi (HUN), Milutin Stefanovic (SRB), Illia Charheika (BLR); Damir Mikec (SRB), Andrija Zlatic (SRB), Vasily Mosin (RUS), Laurence Brize (FRA), Andrea Arsovic (SRB), Ivana Maksimovic (SRB), Zorana Arunovic (SRB), Renata Tobai-Sike (HUN) and Viktoria Chaika (BLR).
All World Team members competing in the open-division of World Championships are attending minus rifle athletes Sarah Beard (Danville, Indiana), Dempster Christenson (Sioux Falls, South Dakota) and Connor Davis (Shelbyville, Kentucky), pistol shooter Brad Balsley (USAMU/Uniontown, Pennsylvania) and two-time Olympic gold medalist Vincent Hancock (Eatonton, Georgia). Junior team competitor Tim Sherry (Highlands Ranch, Colorado) is among the team members present as well.
USA Shooting Team medalists from 2014 World Cup competition will participate including: Victoria Burch (Kerrville, Texas) and Janessa Beaman (Colorado Springs) in Women’s Trap; five-time Olympic medalist Kim Rhode (El Monte, California) and her skeet teammates of Brandy Drozd (Bryan, Texas) and Haley Dunn (Eddyville, Iowa); Dustin Perry (Lovelady, Texas) in Men’s Skeet; the Men’s Double Trap trio of Glenn Eller (Houston), Josh Richmond (Hillsgrove, Pennsylvania) and Jeff Holguin (Yorba Linda, California); Keith Sanderson in Men’s Rapid Fire Pistol; Sarah Scherer (Woburn, Massachusetts) in Women’s Rifle; and three-time Olympic medalist Matt Emmons (Browns Mills, New Jersey) in Men’s Rifle.
