New Jersey State Police Update Pistols to SIG SAUER P229

SIG SAUER is pleased to announce that the New Jersey State Police have selected the P229 Enhanced Elite in 9mm as its new duty pistol.
For the past 14 years, the New Jersey State Police have carried the P228 in 9mm. The decision to remain with SIG SAUER was based on the long track record of reliability, accuracy, and durability, as tested by troopers in the field. The P229 Enhanced Elite maintains that legacy, but adds the one-piece enhanced ergonomic grip, which provides a better fit for a wider range of hands.

The New Jersey State Police will take delivery of 2,800 P229 Enhanced Elite pistols. Founded in 1921, the NJSP patrol is “committed to protect, preserve and safeguard the constitutional and civil rights of all citizens through impartial and courteous law enforcement with integrity and professionalism.”
