Western Illinois Provides Whitetail and Turkey Challenges in Latest Episode of SportingDog Adventures
Jeff and Katherine Fuller 07.22.14
The legendary cold of Winter 2013 doesn’t stop the SportingDog crew as they venture out for deer and turkey in this week’s episode of SportingDog Adventures.
Winter 2013 brought the term “polar vortex” into the consciousness of the upper Midwest. Brutally cold temps and strong winds stopped hunters and prey alike in their tracks. This episode brings the SportingDog crew to southwestern Illinois for a deer hunt in these conditions, while the Fuller boys head to northern Wisconsin for youth season. “The hunting conditions this fall were tough, but the guys at Western Illinois Trophy Outfitters worked hard for us,” says Jeff Fuller, Host and Executive Producer of SportingDog Adventures. Topping off the deer hunt, Fuller successfully turkey hunts and guides Rommel on a shed hunt, demonstrating the great deer genetics on the WITO properties.
In classic SportingDog fashion, youth deer season in northern Wisconsin is a family affair. Grandpa Orville sheds some comical light on hunting with Jeff as a child, and helps his grandsons bag deer on the Fuller family property. “Deer hunting is a Fuller family tradition, and we enjoy sharing our experiences with viewers in hopes of inspiring other families to do the same,” says Fuller.
