Honda’s “Summer Cheerance” to Benefit Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation

Today Honda is launching five days of continuous “Summer Cheerance” by spreading an abundance of smile-inducing videos, memes, GIFs and visual jokes via social media, as well as hosting events all week to support their annual Summer Clearance Sales Event. As part of this effort, Honda will donate $100,000 to the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation.

“Summer Cheerance” begins with a video revealing the mission to spread Summer Cheer. Lots of funny, crazy or just plain weird cheer videos, memes and GIFs will respond to people on Twitter throughout the five-day effort, which also includes Facebook and YouTube.

Honda is also teaming with YouTube superstar Andrew Hales to promote his take on “Summer Cheerance” via two videos on his popular LAHWF YouTube channel during the five-day effort. Real-world “Summer Cheerance” events will bring surprise moments of cheer in select cities across the country. Live cheer events include randomly placed piñatas filled with goodies at various locations, and a “Cheer Detector” will find buried treasure chests to share with onlookers.

Pandora Summer Cheerance station will feature a variety of happy tunes, and rush-hour commuters will hear “Summer Cheerance” comedy bits during commercial breaks.

“We are committed to spreading unprecedented cheer starting today and connecting with as many people as we possibly can in five days,” said Susie Rossick, senior manager at American Honda Motor Co., Inc.

“American Honda has long been a partner in our fight against childhood brain tumors through its support of the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation’s Ride for Kids program, and their Summer Cheerance donation will make an enormous difference to the 28,000 American children living with this disease,” said PBTF President and CEO Robin Boettcher.

“This campaign is a great way to put smiles on people’s faces, and on the faces of kids fighting one of the deadliest forms of childhood cancer,” Boettcher said. “These kids are our Stars, and we are truly grateful to Honda for helping them shine.”
