As shotgun and muzzleloader performance has improved, the need for precision optics has increased. The latest Endurance scope from Hawke delivers a unique blend of performance features to maximize slug gun accuracy and range.
The new Slug Gun SR reticle has been designed to calibrate to the trajectory of shotgun and muzzleloader slugs fired between 1,300 and 1,800 fps. The reticle provides three chevron aimpoints for 100, 150, and 200 yards, taking the guesswork out of long shots with shotguns and muzzleloaders. In addition to the ballistic design, the reticle is glass-etched and illuminated. Forgoing the traditional step-click illumination controls of the past, the new illumination package offers a stepless rheostat for maximum adjustability. Perhaps most important, the latest Endurance chassis from Hawke boasts a full 4.5 inches of eye relief for safe shooting on even the highest recoiling rounds.
Using the same innovative design technology that Hawke has made famous in crossbow reticles, the Slug Gun SR reticle allows the shooter to calibrate the ballistics profile of their load combination to the reticle in the scope. Simply sight the gun in at 100 yards on 6X. Once sighted in, move the target to 150 yards, and shoot a group. If the groups are high, adjust the magnification up in half-power increments, if low, adjust magnification down in half-power increments. Use this magnification adjustment to fine-tune the vertical adjustment until the groups are impacting the target at the point of aim. The scope is now calibrated to this individual combination out to 200 yards.
