New Episode of Destination Whitetail Weighs in on Population Control Debate

Population control and herd management are the focus of an all-new episode of Destination Whitetail. Tune in to the Sportsman Channel this Wednesday at 8:30 p.m. ET/PT to hear the experts weigh in on best practices and hunter tactics.

Due to successful conservation efforts, the deer population in North America today has soared to more than 25 million. On this week’s Destination Whitetail, experts discuss the unique problems that go hand-in-hand with that high number and shed light on the ways in which hunters can help control population. Hunting expert Charles Alsheimer delivers information on the specific challenges in working to control deer in urban areas, and discusses why he believes deer contraceptive methods could fail. Viewers will hear about the advantages of legalizing—and monetizing—hunting in those urban areas to control whitetail population.

The Destination Whitetail cameras also travel to Lake County, Illinois for an urban bow hunt during the rut. Climb into the tree stand with Jerry Milo as he tracks bucks and tries to get the clean kill. Plus, Steve Bartylla is on hand to offer tips on improving accuracy in the field and attracting deer all year long. Tune in to Destination Whitetail this Wednesday at 8:30 p.m. ET/PT for the exciting hunt and lots of great information for any hunter.
