Deer season is right around the corner, and this fall you can scout for big bucks with the first trail camera featuring 30MP resolution and Ultra HD, 4K video.
During spring 2017 on a black bear adventure in Quebec, OutdoorHub Managing Editor Dave Maas was one of the first hunters to get his hands on the new Stealth Cam DS4K, and you can click here to read his detailed review. In addition to showcasing some great photos and videos from the DS4K, Maas’ article also includes amazing images and videos from a few other hunters who were lucky enough to test the new camera.
As an example, check out the clip below, which features a beautiful velvet-racked buck from Nebraska with a summer thunderstorm roaring in the background. Click “full screen” and turn up the sound on your device to experience the sound quality of this new trail camera — simply amazing!
DS4K stands for dual sensor, 4K camera. It has two image sensors, one to optimize daytime photo/video quality, and one to optimize nighttime. This is the first and only 30MP trail camera on the market, and first and only one that can shoot 2K (QHD) and 4K video quality.
Important note: Even though the DS4K can shoot 4K video, it’s in 15 frames per second and most devices can’t optimize it, so Stealth Cam highly recommends shooting in QHD video resolution (2K) because it shoots in 24 frames per second, and is by far the best video that has ever come out of a trail camera. The audio is incredible as well.
Another DS4K feature that has proven to be incredibly valuable is the PIR Combo mode, which enables you to take a photo and video in the same trigger. It’s really the best of both worlds. The picture allows you to see what has triggered the camera to determine if you need or want to watch the video. As you can imagine, this is a huge time saver. Just think about going through 500 or even 1,000 videos and how long it would take to load/watch them all.
