Veterans Day Shoot at the NRA Headquarter’s Range

The Fourth Annual NRA Veterans Day Shoot at the Headquarters Range was as well attended as ever. The evening opened up with a welcome from NRA President David Keene, Executive Director of General Operations Kayne Robinson and NRA Boardmember Dennis Willing.

“Having you here gives us an opportunity to say thanks,” Keene told the veterans. “This is your range and tonight is our way of thanking you what you’ve done for this country.”

“Military and Law Enforcement make up a very important part of our membership,” said Robinson. “Even old, retired military guys like me.”

Soon enough, everyone headed out to the range. With choices ranging from a .22 pistol to a .357 revolver to Mossberg 510 to a HK 91 .308, there was plenty to keep the volunteer range officers busy. Rotating from station to station, everyone in attendance had the chance to shoot everyone in the house. Then came the raffle.

With a table of goodies from BrownellsEO TechTrijicon and more, attendees were all smiles whether they walked away with a prize or not. That’s because their night of shooting was far from over. Enter the grease gun.

Made by the Guide Light Division of General Motors back in World War II, the M3 and M3A1 Grease Guns shoot a .45-caliber round at 920 feet per second. Though their use during the war was limited, their simplicity and effectiveness was grand enough to ensure their use by the U.S. Military through 1992. But enough of the history … here’s what one Vet had to say about last night’s event:

“I just had to tell you that got home from this event about 45min ago, but I haven’t stopped smiling yet! I had an absolute great time tonight, and I just want to say thank you! Thank you and all the staff who helped put this together!”

This is just a taste of last night’s events. We’ll have more throughout the next week or two.
