6 Iconic Guns from the Greatest Christmas Movie of All Time, ‘Die Hard’

As you may already know, Die Hard is considered by many to be the greatest Christmas movie of all time. The film is set at a business’ Christmas party on Christmas Eve, which comes under attack by terrorists. Some movie fans even draw parallels between Die Hard and It’s a Wonderful Life, although that might be a little bit of a stretch. After a recent rewatch of the film, we decided to get in the holiday spirit and share six of the most iconic firearms featured within.

1. Beretta 92F

The Beretta 92F is the sidearm of choice for Detective John McClane (Bruce Willis). It’s featured throughout the movie and it probably plays a bigger role than any other firearm in the movie.

2. Heckler & Koch P7M13

The Heckler & Koch P7M13 is terrorist leader Hans Gruber’s (Alan Rickman) primary weapon throughout the film. The firearm features an innovative squeeze cocking mechanism.

3. Heckler & Koch HK94 (MP5)

Modified Heckler & Koch HK94s are used by the terrorists and John McClane thought the film. The HK94s found in the movie were shortened and modified to look more like “standard” MP5s. After stealing one from a terrorist, John McClane famously sends the message “Now I have a machine gun. Ho Ho Ho.”

4. M16A1 (Replica)

5. Steyr AUG

The Steyr AUG is used by Karl (Alexander Godunov) and it was probably the most unusual-looking weapon to American audiences at the time. The gun’s appearance in Die Hard introduced the American public to bullpup firearms.

6. M60E3

The M60E3 was used as a “show of force” against Sergeant Al Powell (Reginald VelJohnson).

Hope you enjoyed our look back on the best Christmas film of all time. Merry Christmas, and happy holidays to all! More information about firearms used in the film can be found at the Internet Movie Firearms Database.
