The Best Sporks for all your Outdoor Eating Needs

We spend a lot of time focusing on what we’re going to eat on our adventures, but very little do we think about the utensils that we take with us.

In fact, I can’t tell you how many times we’ve forgotten some much-needed utensils for even the most basic cooking.

Not just for outdoor needs, though, I’ve also needed a reusable spork for my work breakfasts and lunches. Having that spork for my work meals made life so much easier, I didn’t have to search for utensils anymore, I had it in my bag and could just wash and put away.

Sporks are definitely my all-time favorite thing to have for travel needs, whether it’s a road trip, camping, or overlanding; sporks have come a long way.

Let’s take a look at the best sporks available on the market for a variety of needs:

1. Ka-Bar Tactical Spork

Ka-Bar Tactical Spork

Ka-Bar, the same people who manufacture the famous USMC fixed blade knife, is also now in the spork business!

When I first saw their spork, I knew I had to have it for the sheer fact that it has a knife inside of it. It’s a plastic knife, but it still cuts pretty well. The entire thing is made of plastic, but it’s made very well and strong.

Don’t expect to cut through bark or bone, but will certainly cut through some cooked meat.

I quite appreciate this spork because of the added knife feature. It also resembles their signature design.

Pros/Has a knife, strong, lightweight
Cons/
Bottom Line/If you're looking for tactical and function, this is it.

2. Long handle spork

Long handle spork

Do you eat a lot of freeze-dried meals in bags? Have you ever been frustrated with the short sporks that get your hangs all gross with the food?

Worry no longer! This is a spork with a long handle so you can reach deep inside the bags without the mess!

This is also titanium which makes it strong, as well as super lightweight. It’s also easy to clean.

Pros/Titanium, long handle, lightweight
Cons/
Bottom Line/This spork will last you many, many years.

3. Light My Fire Camping Spork

Light My Fire Camping Spork

This is their BPA-free bio-plastic spork, but I also have their titanium spork that looks identical to this one, except it’s titanium.

This has a full spoon on one side and a full fork on the other side.

Etched into the side of one of the prongs on the fork is a little serration which allows for some cutting ability. I’ve found the cutting to be almost impossible, so I tend not to use it, but it’s a nice added feature. It’s not sharp so it doesn’t affect eating in any way.

Extremely lightweight, easy to clean, and can be packed away just about anywhere.

Pros/Lightweight, small, full fork and full spoon
Cons/The serration doesn't work that well
Bottom Line/Perfect for any camping trip or lunch box.

4. UCO Switch Spork

UCO is known for their quality gear and this spork definitely holds up to that quality!

I love this design. It has a full spoon and knife on one side and a full fork on the other side. They can be separated or the knife can slide into the back of the fork to hold together.

When you’re done using it, flip the fork around and slide it against the spoon to pack down even smaller.

It’s lightweight, functional, and durable.

Pros/Functional, has a knife, collapsible
Cons/
Bottom Line/One of the best designed camping utensils out there

5. BAMROO Reusable Bamboo Spork

BAMROO Reusable Bamboo Spork

This is the curest little spork I’ve ever seen. It looks like something a bushcrafter would make out in the field. It’s made of bamboo and has a cork case when to store away when not in use.

It’s super compact, can fit in the palm of your hand, but sturdy enough and big enough to sufficiently eat with.

This certainly won’t be for everyone but I think it’s too cool not to talk about.

If you’re looking for an eco-friendly spork, this is the one.

Pros/Made of bamboo, super compact
Cons/
Bottom Line/While this is small, it is mighty

Which spork is right for you?

I think I have a spork problem because I keep buying them! I love to have sporks in my car, in every single bag that I own, in our camping kits, go-bags and anywhere else I can fit them. They’re so handy to have around because they can fit just about anywhere.

Which spork will you choose?
