How To Use Turkey Calls in the Rain
Ed Johnson 04.23.11
Turkey hunting and calling in the rain is not a turkey hunter’s favorite time in the woods. Wet slate, glass and box calls normally fail to work properly when damp or wet. If you do not use a mouth call, I recommend carrying a waterproof striker in your call arsenal. These new strikers work on all calls of glass and slate with almost normal accuracy when calling due to their waterproof abrasive nature.
I always go exclusively with a rapid purring sequence with an intermittent cluck. Keep the calling pattern consistent but keep purring. Turkeys do not mind light rain and love to browse through the flats and ridges.
