How To Catch More Summer Bass on Topwater Baits

   05.25.11

We all love to bass fish on those days when the sun is about to shine and the heat is picking up. In the Midwest these are typically July and August mornings.

When the topwater feed starts and the bass are hammering the baitfish throw them the double assault! First hit them with a crystal minnow or fluke minnow. Basically anything that looks like a wounded minnow and watch them hammer on it. Do not over use this tactic as it heats up the water and can become scary quickly to intelligent bass. When the crystal wears down, its time to throw a light surface bait. A hula popper or a chug plug can be ideal.

Overall, when bass are feeding… GET AFTER THEM and throw a double Assault at them and watch the pole bend baby!
