Maybe you and a buddy overturn a canoe and your paddles are swept downriver by the fast current. Or, maybe you break two paddles in defense of your s’mores against two camp-trolling black bears.

    We used to call this “gunwale jumping”. I can remember hilarious gunwale jumping races at scout camps as a kid. Haven’t thought of it for ages. Thanks for the reminder.
