Voting Now Open For All Terrain Cares Grant Campaign

SUNAPEE, NH. – Eight organizations that span from coast to coast and are all champions of open space or youth activities have received approval and are now in the running to receive the first All Terrain Cares Grant Campaign.

Voting opens today at www.allterraincares.com and the organization that receives the most votes when voting closes on June 30th will receive a $1,000 grant to support their cause. There will also be a second place grant of $500 awarded and a third prize grant of $250.

While registration for the June program is closed, All Terrain is also continuing to accept applications for the July and August voting periods. The groups that received approval and may be voted on in June include:

· Northern Forest Canoe Trail – based in Waitsfield, Vt., the Northern Forest Canoe Trail connects people to the Trail’s natural environment, human heritage, and contemporary communities by stewarding, promoting, and providing access to canoe and kayak experiences along this scenic route. The organization emphasizes rural youth outreach, community economic development and trail stewardship.

· The Balancing Act Research and Education Organization (BARE), based in Klamath Falls, OR., is a participatory ethnobotanical lab and field research station that encourages the involvement of local youth in detailed nutrition methodological propagation and restoration of local threatened species. Economical, Educational, Agricultural, Medical value of plants and utility energy efficiency. In addition B.A.R.E. will provide a unique opportunity to further it’s goal of protecting our natural heritage as well as providing an outstanding educational opportunity for area youth.

· The American Hiking Society, founded in 1976 and based in Silver Spring, Md, is the only national organization dedicated to promoting and protecting America’s hiking trails and the natural areas that surround them and the hiking experience itself.

· Big City Mountaineers, based in Denver, Co., strives to enhance the lives of under-resourced urban teens through transformative outdoor experiences to instill critical life skills.

· Four Corners School of Outdoor Education / Canyon Country Youth Corps, based in Monticello, UT., creates lifelong learning experiences about the Colorado Plateau bioregion (Southern Utah, Southwest Colorado, Northwest New Mexico and Northern Arizona) for people of all ages and backgrounds through education, service, adventure, and conservation programs.

· The Colorado Mountain Club (CMC), based in Golden, CO., improves people’s lives and the environment through education, conservation, and recreation. The Youth Education Program (YEP!) has taught academics and leadership to over 58,000 youth from the Denver metro area since it was created in 1999.

· cityWILD, based in Denver, CO., provides low income, culturally diverse youth with outdoor and environmental service learning opportunities that promote developmental themes of personal empowerment, leadership and community participation.

· The Caledonia Conservancy, based in Racine, WI, is committed to preserving the rural character of the Village by acquisition, stewardship and holding conservation easements on the land. The Conservancy works cooperatively with the community, schools, business and government providing public access to equestrian and recreational trails and nature education enhancing the quality of life.

“We’re thrilled these organizations have entered the All Terrain Cares Grant Campaign,” said David Kulow, president of All Terrain Skin Care. “Each and every one of these organizations is helping kids get active or helping to protect open spaces – two causes that are very important to All Terrain. Winners will be selected based on the total number of votes received during the voting period.

As an additional way to help support organizations during the Grant Campaign, All Terrain is giving people who order product from its website the opportunity to have All Terrain designate 20% of the proceeds of its sale to one of the submitting organizations. This is independent of the grant awards and is a way all submitting organizations can potentially benefit. To help encourage people to order and designate, All Terrain will give free shipping on those orders as well.
