   06.13.11

Colchester, VT – Lake Champlain fishing has recently been praised as one of the top fishing locations in the Nation. Lake Champlain International (LCI) continues to increase the excitement of fishing on Lake Champlain by offering more than $750,000 in possible cash and prizes in the 30th LCI Father’s Day Derby presented by Yamaha, including one $300,000 Mystery Fish.

Fishing from boat or shore begins at 12 a.m. (midnight) on Saturday morning, and continues until 4 p.m. on Monday. Eager anglers hit the water in the dark to search for their chance at catching a winning fish. The Derby spans the entire length of Lake Champlain from the Canadian border to Lock Number 12 in Whitehall, NY. There are a total of 12 official weigh stations surrounding Lake Champlain on the Vermont and New York shorelines to accommodate anglers.

More than $750,000 in cash and prizes is up for grabs in this catch-and-release, family-oriented Lake Champlain tradition, including one $300,000 Mystery Fish, ten $30,000 Cash Extra chances, and new this year, all cash pay-outs to the top ten fish in each category. First place in each of the seven categories is guaranteed $3,000. T.E.A.M.s will also vie for one of three Starcraft, Smokercraft, or Sylvan boats equipped with a Yamaha four-stroke outboard motor.

LCI will present three LCI Anglers of the Year awards. One angler from the Cold, Cool, and Warm Water Divisions will be awarded LCI Angler of the Year by amassing the highest LCI Derby Prize Point total with three fish – one from Saturday, Sunday, and Monday. New for 2011 is the LCI Ladies of the Lake presented by Cynthea’s Spa, where the top female angler in each of the Cold, Cool, and Warm divisions will each receive a spa package for two from Cynthia’s Spa, a Danforth Pewter gift, and more.

The LCI Father’s Day Fishing Derby presented by Yamaha, with 10 eligible species of fish, has been carefully crafted to appeal to all anglers, from the seasoned pro to the novice on his or her first trip. There is even a trophy yellow perch category open to Junior anglers under 15 years old.

Anglers can register until close of business June 17th at over 40 retail registration outlets in Vermont, New York, and New Hampshire. For information on an outlet near you, please visit www.lciderby.com.

The LCI Derbies are sponsored, in part, by Yamaha, Starcraft Marine, Sebile, Vermont Department of Tourism and Marketing, Vermont Department of Fish and Wildlife, Jolley Convenience Stores, FOX 44, Apple Island Resort and Marina, and WOKO 98.9 FM.
