   08.05.11

JACKSON – The Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Park’s Marksmanship Program recently received a grant for $8,500 from the National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF) for the third year in a row. The grant will help pay for supplies and ammunition used in the Shotgun 101, 102 classes, rim fire, and air rifle classes. “We’re very excited about the wonderful support we’ve received for our basic and advanced shotgun classes,” said John Satterwhite, MDWFP Marksmanship instructor.

The NSSF issued $435,000 in grants to shooting ranges this year and 1.17 million in the past three years to 46 ranges across the nation. The NSSF Range Grant Program was launched in 2008 to improve qualifying shooting ranges in their efforts to promote the shooting sports to people of all ages.
